Marketing Assistant
Contract Type: 8 weeks, full time (35 hours/week) through Canada Summer Jobs
Rate of Pay: $15.00/hour

About Volunteer Sudbury / Bénévolat Sudbury:
Volunteer Sudbury/Bénévolat Sudbury (VBS) is the City of Greater Sudbury’s bilingual, nonprofit volunteer resource centre. Founded in 2004, our team’s mission is to act as a link between volunteers and organizations for the enrichment of our region. Over the years, VBS has become an impactful community resource that connects individuals with service opportunities where their time and skills support the mandates of a wide variety of non-profit organizations. Our team facilitates volunteer engagement in our region, both through a public, online volunteer opportunity database and through three programs tailored for multiple key demographics in our region including: youth, seniors, and individuals living with disabilities.
VBS supports organizations in building capacity for effective local volunteering by working closely with volunteer managers to identify and fill community needs while offering training and workshops that address relevant topics associated with volunteer mobilization. As an active member in several municipal, provincial, and federal networks, we provide leadership on issues relating to volunteerism by sharing our resources and expertise with other organizations. VBS promotes volunteerism in the region by hosting volunteer fairs, conducting outreach presentations, hosting and participating in community engagement events, and connecting with our volunteer audience through our website and social media platforms. Our team works closely with local volunteers and assists them on their journey’s of giving back to the community.
Job Description:
The Marketing Assistant’s responsibilities include providing communications and design expertise, and helping to build exposure and grow clientele through outreach efforts. The candidate should be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures, and be able to collaborate effectively with colleagues, while maintaining the ability to work independently in a productive manner. The Marketing Assistant must be able to take initiative in the development of new marketing projects, as well as maintain flexibility and adaptability when new tasks arise or are delegated.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:

Creating promotional materials, such as graphics and videos
-
Gethering and reporting analytical data to track online growth
-
Composing and posting online content on various social media platforms
-
Providing fact-checking, copy-editing and format assistance during the creation of website content and other promotional materials

Developing new campaigns for the recruitment of new volunteers and new members
-
Planning and developing a fundraising event
-
Collaborating with team members in the creation of new programs & projects
-
Conducting research applicable to current events and initiatives

Collaborating with team members in the development of our newsletter

Other tasks as required by Program Coordinator
What We’re Looking For:
-
Someone between the ages of 15-30, who is either a student or recent graduate with a diploma or degree in Business, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or a related field
-
Someone who is creative, organized, flexible, and a team player
-
Proficiency in G-Suite programs (Gmail, Sheets, Docs, etc.), Canva, Wix.

Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset
