Summer Student


Volunteer Sudbury is looking for a summer student to assist with our programs and services.  The ideal candidate will be bilingual, enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary school, have experience working for a not for profit and as a volunteer, with good computer skills.  The successful candidate will help with setting up kiosks, conducting presentations, registering volunteers and increasing the awareness of Volunteer Sudbury and its programs and services. 



-          Provide support and assist with kiosks, recruitment sessions, presentations and meetings to increase awareness of program.

-          Engage, interact and educate clients

-          Promotion of volunteer services and programs through the use of kiosks,  website, social media, email and advertising

-          Assist with education and matching of volunteers and organizations

-          Recruit and register volunteers for volunteer programs

-          Maintain good public relations with the volunteers, not for profit organizations and the general public

-          Assist with development and delivery of quarterly newsletter

-          Maintain an accurate and current database of volunteers and organizations

-          Respond to inquiries via telephone, email or in person

-          Prepare monthly reports to Board of Directors

-          Other duties as requested



-          Skills & Knowledge

o   Ability to communicate effectively and personably, both orally and written in English and French

o   Ability to plan and organize

o   Computer skills in Microsoft Office, Website management, Facebook

o   Ability to organize tasks and managing time effectively

o   Ability to represent and promote Volunteer Sudbury professionally

o   Working knowledge of office practices such as filing, telephone, reception, etc

-          Other

o   Possession of a valid Ontario driver's licence and access to a vehicle an asset

o   Submission of an acceptable Criminal Reference Check


SALARY:  $11.00/hr x 33.5 hours per week for approximately 6 weeks starting May 5th, 2014
